August 15 is International Green Smoothie Day! Incorporating greens into your smoothies are a great way to boost micro-nutrient intake. This is a very easy smoothie that doesn’t require much effort or fancy ingredients. Recipe credit goes to Mom!
1 c. unsweetened almond milk
A couple of ice cubes
1/2 small banana
A few chunks of fresh pineapple or any other fruit (for sweetness to mask the taste of the greens)
2 handfuls of spinach
1 small handful of parsley
1) Blend above ingredients for a basic smoothie
2) Add flax seed or oil, wheat germ, nutritional yeast, and/or 1 scoop of unflavored protein powder
Serves 1. Double ingredients for 2 people.
