Organic Traditions Dark Chocolate Almonds

These delicious snacks are so healthy! Not only are they organic, but the almonds are non-irradiated, non-genetically modified and they are sustainably grown, harvested and fair trade certified. The chocolate is 70% cocoa, low in sugars, and dairy-free. Not to mention they are gluten-free and low on the glycemic index!

These chocolate covered almonds are not as sweet as the standard variety, but in a good way, serving as a nutritious snack instead of a guilty pleasure. They can be used in a variety of recipes, ground into trail mixes, or as a yogurt topping. For a chocolate smoothie, grind a handful of the dark chocolate almonds in a blender and combine with 1-2 teaspoons of cacao nibs, 1-2 teaspoons shredded coconut, sprouted chia powder, berries, and coconut water.

Organic Traditions has an extensive variety of organic specialty health foods, such as cacao nibs, goji berries, flax, chia seed, etc. They also have powders from rare berries and superfoods, such as the lucuma fruit (which we used in our Super Healthy Summer Berry Crumble), and powders from herbs such as slippery elm bark and saw palmetto. Check out the full range of Organic Traditions products on their website http://www.organictraditions.com. We found the Dark Chocolate Almonds at the Be Natural health food store in Pemberton, BC but they are available online at Healthy Planet and The Vitamin Cupboard.
